What is PaaS Model?
Many businesses in the development and management of their digital products or services, or in the path of digital transformation, need extensive IT infrastructure, which imposes a lot of costs on these companies. But one of the ways to reduce costs in this direction is to use the PaaS model.
PaaS stands for Platform as a Service PaaS is a cloud platform service model that allows you to focus on developing your applications without the hassle of infrastructure management and the infrastructure you need for application development, including servers, databases, development tools and It provides you with other items. You only pay for the resources you use; As a result, you can quickly bring your app to market or use while saving on infrastructure costs.
Imagine having a complete and ready-to-use cloud platform for developing, running and managing your applications in minutes instead of spending hours installing and setting up servers and software. This is what Platform as a Service or PaaS service offers you.
How does PaaS work?
A PaaS service is usually accessed through a web browser. PaaS solutions usually include three main parts, which are:
- Cloud infrastructure: including virtual machines (VMs), operating system software, storage space, network equipment, servers, data centers, and firewalls;
- Software: software and middleware for building, deploying and managing applications such as frameworks, development kits (SDK) and libraries;
- User Interface: Includes a command line interface (CLI), an API interface, and a graphical user interface (GUI) through which DevOps teams can perform all their tasks throughout the entire application lifecycle.
Since PaaS provides all standard development tools through an online GUI interface, developers can log in from anywhere to collaborate on projects, test new applications, or unveil finished products. Applications are designed and developed using middleware inside PaaS. This way, multiple development and operations teams can work on the same project simultaneously.
PaaS providers manage the bulk of your cloud computing services, such as servers, runtimes, and virtualization. As a PaaS customer, you will only be responsible for managing applications and data.
PaaS is like eating a pizza. Do you prefer to eat a ready-made pizza or prepare the ingredients and make it yourself? Maybe you prefer to go to a public kitchen and use the facilities there to make your favorite pizza.
